weathering effects on a tile
About 5 years ago I attached this 6″ tile to an outside wall where it has been in full sun for more than half the day and exposed to temperatures up to 110 F in the summer and subjected to freezing temperatures at night in the winter. The wall is on the side of a mountain (4,500 ft.) in Arizona, so it has been snowed on from time to time as well. It was originally fired at cone 6. There is some crazing of the transparent glaze, but otherwise it seems to have survived the weathering very well.
