This year we have over 60 artists taking part in the tour which is in it’s 18th year. Dates are 17th and 18th April. Check the website for info on the artists & examples of their work.
We are at location 22 on the map. Hope to see you there.
We’ve just had 12 hours of rain, but that didn’t stop me firing the kiln yesterday. Here are some of the results. No more meltdowns, thank goodness!
The tall pot is 14 in. tall. I also made one 26 in tall but it has only been bisqued so far. It just fitted into the kiln with 1 inch to spare! Fortunately it had shrunk down during drying from 28 inches. Making big pots is a challenge, and requires careful measuring! How do you like the ash glaze made from mesquite and pine ash?The Spider Woman hd
After bisque firing some pots made with local clay, I decided to include three in a cone six glaze firing. Not a good idea. As the pictures show we had a total meltdown. This was Ohio blue clay obtained from 15 ft below ground level during the excavation for a new farm pond. I don’t think I can save the shelf, but I did save the stilts. Oh well! We live and learn!
